Internationally Chem-Dry is the world’s largest carpet and upholstery cleaning franchise with more than 3,000 franchises in 51 countries, serving a combined total of approximately 10,000 homes a day. Since securing the Master Franchise rights for South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe in 1993, Chem-Dry® South Africa has established themselves as a household name with a solid and outstanding reputation across South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. The reason for this phenomenal success is that the Chem-Dry system far surpasses conventional cleaning processes such as shampoo, steam and dry-cleaning. The concept under the spotlight
Chem-Dry provides carpet, upholstery and related product cleaning services. Their research facility in Utah, USA is constantly developing products that keep pace with new innovations in the carpet industry and with access to products not available to other carpet cleaning operations, Chem-Dry franchises are able to offer their customers unique solutions to their carpet and upholstery cleaning problems. All franchisees are required to adhere to the stringent quality standards as specified by the holding company, Devere International, based in Logan, Utah and Nashville, Tennessee in the USA.
In addition to carpet and upholstery cleaning, Chem-Dry offers drapery cleaning, mattress cleaning and sanitizing, including dust mite treatments, leather and vinyl cleaning, tile and stone cleaning and sealing, water damage restoration, pet urine removal treatment and Persian and Oriental rug cleaning.
Chem-Dry serves the residential, commercial, healthcare and industrial sectors. Hotels, guest houses, doctor’s rooms, hospitals, restaurants, and banks, are regular Chem-Dry users.
Chem-Dry franchisees typically will initially operate from their homes. They will require a suitable vehicle, a single set of equipment and will employ a team consisting of two staff members.

Acknowledging that their success is directly dependent on their franchisees’ long-term achievements, the franchisor holds regular seminars and conferences to help franchisees operate their businesses in a professional, efficient and profitable manner and to update them on developments. Compliance is insured through ongoing training, customer surveys, product audits and franchisee visits.
New franchisees attend a 4-day introductory training course at the franchisors Head Office in St Francis Bay that teaches successful business operations and covers all aspects of cleaning the Chem-Dry® way. Upon completion, franchisees are issued a detailed training manual and a complete set of training videos. Ongoing training is provided through seminars and conventions and additional training material is made available via manuals, videos, circulars, emails to ensure franchisees stay abreast of developments within the company and the industry. In addition, franchisees also have access to the Chem-Dry Gateway University, an online training and certification facility.
